About Cabarete

The Caribbean Capital of Windsurfing and Kitesurfing is Cabarete Beach, also known as Kite Beach on the west end, is where you can learn and practice windsurfing year-round. On weekends, especially in the summer, the beach is filled with kites and sails, making for some great photo opportunities. If you don’t like sports, you can also swim and relax in front of the many restaurants, bars and shops on the east side of the beach. Several international kitesurfing championships are held throughout the year and accommodation can be found in one of the many modern hotels and rental apartments along the beach.

Playa Encuentro, located between Sosúa and Cabarete, and half an hour from the hotels of Playa Dorada and Costa Dorada. Described as a “perfect right breaking wave”, you will find the best surf schools right on the beach, ready to introduce you to the sport. As surfing tradition dictates, the best time to enjoy the waves is early in the morning.
